Sophie and I went shopping this morning and when I stepped out the door I was not expecting the crispness in the air. I was wearing shorts, flip flops, and a short sleeved shirt. Sophie was in short sleeves and pants, and luckily I had a little jacket packed in her bag. She needed it! I would have gone back to dress myself more appropriately but I had everything I needed in my hands, plus Sophie, and I wasn’t up to go back in and gather everything up again after changing. You’ll understand that getting out the door with a baby is no easy task-babies require tons of STUFF. So I sucked it up and took the cold.
My next sign of Fall came when I swung through the drive-through at Starbucks (thanks to Mom for the gift card!) I should have remembered, but it’s one of those things that you forget about all year until it comes back again-THE PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE. I have to say, I think this drink is my favorite aspect of the entire autumn season. So…I got a grande size. Hey, you only live once, right?
Then, when I was leaving to drop Sophie off at daycare I noticed that most of the trees around our apartment complex are beginning to change. The tips of the trees were red, yellow, orange! I pointed them out to Sophie and she proudly exclaimed “GUH!”, which I’ll take to mean that she is excited about the change in seasons.
There were a few leaves on the ground at the daycare and the air smelled distinctly of fall.
Goodbye summer, Hello Autumn.
