Isn’t she gorgeous? I try not to brag, but come on! She is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. I’m sure you agree! Right? Right?
On Friday Sophie had her 15 mo. check up. She is 19 lbs. 6oz. and 29.5″. That puts her in about the 10th percentile for weight and about the 25th for height. She’s quite a tiny peanut compared to other kids her age!
She’s doing awesome in the area of language development. She has about 10 words that she uses correctly and consistently-Mama, Dida (Daddy), cheese, teeth, bird, moon, tick-tock (clock), ball, and a few others. She also has about 5 signs-more, please, thank you, change (diaper), and blows kisses or waves for “goodbye”. She understands just about everything I say to her too. She can go follow simple directions like “Go put your farmer on your tractor!” or “Go get a different book please.” (She brings me the same book over and over to read). If I say “Let’s go give you a bath!” she gets really excited and crawls to the bathroom.
Physically, she’s not walking yet which isn’t exactly a cause for concern yet, but it could be a small issue if she’s not walking by her next appointment at 18 mo. The pediatrician mentioned that if she’s not walking by then we may need to have Early On evaluate her. But, for right now she’s fine and she did actually take a small step on her own a few days ago. She doesn’t have much confidence to stand on her own-rarely does she let go of support to stand unassisted. Sometimes she’ll let me set her up on her feet and she’ll stand for a few seconds. She can run with her push toy and will walk if she’s assisted with one hand. She’s on her way, so there’s nothing to do but wait and let her walk in her own time.
I know these types of post usually reduce me to mush, but I can’t help it. I just cannot believe that I am a mother to such a beautiful, happy, wonderful child. I am so proud of Sophie, and Kevin and I cannot imagine our lives without her. She’s awesome and I am so thankful to God for her.
